Maidenhead United Academy started their National League Under 19 Alliance South season with an incredible comeback against Boreham Wood at Berkshire College of Agriculture on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite having more than their fair share of the play, the young Magpies trailed the Wood 3-0 at the break with the away side scoring through an early free-kick and a frustrating penalty award before a third strike put the Hertfordshire side seemingly well in control.

A half-time pep-talk saw the Magpies completely on the front foot thereafter. United could even afford to see a penalty of their own saved following a lenghty injury delay before Quaye Vine pulled a goal back with the first of his brace. A terrific Vine free-kick tied the match up before Maidenhead sealed a thoroughly deserved 4-3 victory with a well-worked team goal inside the final ten minutes.

It has been a good start to the season for the Academy, with the Under 18 side currently sitting on top of the Isthmian League Youth League West Division with two wins from two. There was another stunning comeback in a 4-2 victory over Hampton & Richmond Borough in United's first ever match in this competition which was followed up by a 3-1 victory at Aldershot Town last week.
