Maidenhead United Academy are enjoying a strong conclusion to the season and on Wednesday afternoon at BCA the Under 19s earned another deserved and useful point with a 1-1 draw against a Dagenham & Redbridge side who had inflicted a big defeat on the Magpies earlier in the season.
The draw made it just one defeat from their last eight National League U19 Alliance South matches, a ru which has seen United run in an impressive twenty-two goals. The young Magpies earned a draw having trailed at half time, dominating large periods of the second period and being rewarded when Amari Dumont was felled in the box with the powerful forward picking himself up to score from the penalty spot.
Today's line up saw a number of players who have had the opportunity to play men's senior football this season, with no fewer than seven of the fifteen players used against Dagenham having played for local Combined Counties League side Holyport during the campaign - either for the Port's first team at Step 5 or their Reserve team at Step 7.
Although United won't claim honours this season, they will have a major say in the National League U19 Alliance South title-race. Their last two matches of the season will see them face the only two sides who can win the division, Dartford and Sutton United who will both visit BCA over the next fortnight.
