Dear Supporters,

The Board of Directors of Maidenhead United, management team and players were delighted to see another excellent following of Magpies supporters accompany the team to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday. Week in, week out your vocal support, passion and dedication to the team is clear to see, both at York Road and far flung venues around the country. As we reach the run-in towards the back-end of another Vanarama National League season, your support is appreciated and needed as much as ever.

It is therefore with considerable disappointment that we note incidents of unacceptable abuse, directed at match officials at Forest Green Rovers by individuals in the away end on Saturday afternoon. We are working together with Forest Green Rovers to ascertain whether we can identify individuals who made comments which were frankly offensive in the extreme. Please be advised that your words and deeds and anti-social behaviour of any sort may literally cost your club. Let it be clear – Maidenhead United does not and will not accept this kind of behaviour and will take steps against individuals if necessary.

We will also be actively working with the Maidenhead United Supporters Group to tackle behaviour of this sort. MUSG organised a full bus carrying our fans to the game and they will continue to work with us to ensure that York Road continues to be a welcoming and inclusive venue at which to watch the Magpies and also that the predominantly positive reputation of our supporters is maintained on our away trips. Always remember – we have more than 60 Junior teams as affiliated members of our club, many hundreds of youngsters who want to enjoy the York Road matchday atmosphere.

We would ask that any supporters who witness unacceptable language and abuse, be it at York Road or away from home, report what they see and hear to stewards. Any supporters who would wish to contact the club can do so in confidence to mark.stewart@maidenheadunitedfc.org

As we embrace a crucial period of fixtures we sincerely hope, expect and believe that our magnificent supporters will continue to focus all their energies on getting fully behind our players and management team. Please continue therefore to play your positive part between now and the end of the season.

Yours Faithfully,

The Board of Maidenhead United FC
