Today (Friday, 20th March), the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has published its new Open Space Notice - an important milestone in progressing our plans to relocate to a new community ground at Braywick Park.

The notice sets out the areas identified for wider biodiversity enhancements, including an extension to the existing nature reserve, and clearly distinguishes between the ground footprint and the spaces designated for continued public access.

We welcome the comments from Cabinet Member Cllr Adam Bermange, who recognises the significant work undertaken to address the initial concerns raised, such as access, positioning within the park, scale of the proposal and environmental impact.

Our proposal remains for a modern, 5,000-capacity ground designed to sit sensitively within its surroundings, following principles that reduce visual impact, provide biodiversity gains, improve community facilities such as the athletics track and create additional routes into Braywick Park to ease existing traffic concerns and enhance pedestrian movement.

Jon Adams, Chief Executive Officer of Maidenhead United FC, said: “We continue to work constructively with the local authority and are pleased to see the notice including the area where improvements would be made to the nature reserve.

“The consultation events we’ve held over recent months have played an important part in shaping and improving the plans, and we’re grateful for the feedback received.”

The RBWM Cabinet will meet on Tuesday, 28th April to consider the release of the land. If approved, the club will move forward by submitting a full planning application.
