Maidenhead United Women players will be looking to force their way into manager Ed Jackson-Norris’s plans for the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup Final on Sunday 16th March when they take on Bristol Rovers at York Road this Sunday (9th March, 2pm). As part of International Women’s Day weekend, the FA Women’s National League match will see a special offer for admission at York Road. Adults can attend the match for £5 and bring a friend for FREE whilst all Under 16s can attend the fixture for FREE. In effect that means a family with two adults can attend this game for just a fiver. MUFC Gold Members will as usual gain free admission on presentation of their membership card.

Recent arrival and wing-back Libby Doyle is one of those hoping to secure her spot in the cup final squad and she has impressed since joining from divisional rivals Moneyfields. Her sumptuous cross provided defender Isacc Gregory with a headed goal in the semi-final against Reading and Doyle admits: “As a right back, I love being defensive and encouraging one-on-one battles. But I also enjoy getting forward when I can to create goal-scoring opportunities.”

Doyle is hoping for a happier cup final experience than her previous outing in a showpiece match, as she recalls: “I played in the WSL Academy Cup final in 2019 for Reading against Chelsea. The game went all the way to penalties, and sadly, we didn’t take the win.” Doyle is enjoying her time at Maidenhead and explains: “After coming back from injury and being out for two years prior to this season due to tearing my patellar tendon and needing three surgeries to fix it, it was a hard start to the season. Regaining confidence and fitness has not been easy, but since joining Maidenhead in January, I have started to regain my confidence and enjoying playing again. All the players and staff have been amazing since I have come into the club, making me feel welcome and allowing me to play freely without pressure.”
