Maidenhead United are delighted to confirm that Josh Umerah has extended his deal with the club.
Josh’s impact was instant as he drew United level on the opening day of the season with a proper striker’s finish against Chesham United. He has since gone on to make 35 appearances in his maiden United campaign, 31 of which have been from the start.
A focal point in United’s attack, our number 15 has since taken his goal tally to 11 for the campaign. Showing a versatility in those finishes as well; left foot, right foot, header and a set piece. His attacking intelligence often sees him in the right place at the right time to finish.
One which will remain fondly in the mind of many Magpies fans is that which he scored against his former employers in late February. It may not have been the most glamorous of his United catalogue, but the expelling of emotion was felt by the fans who now sing his name – and crucially set us on our way to three points.
Unselfish in his build up play, Josh registered his only assist of the season against Salisbury. Setting the ball back to Josh Popoola to stroke into the corner and kick off a free-scoring evening.
His work ethic and bullish approach is well recognised amongst fans and staff alike. Not afraid to get his hands dirty, it has become fairly normal to Josh back helping out in his own area with impressive defensive nous.
Ryan Peters said: “Josh Umerah has been absolutely fantastic for us this season. He is a player that does not get the credit he deserves. The physical load he endures to allow us to go back to front quickly is remarkable. He rarely ever misses training and matches, and is a joy to coach. I am over the moon that we have been able to secure him.”
