Maidenhead United Women made it through a hard-fought tie with battling Tier 6 outfit Penn & Tylers, advancing with thanks to goal in each half. Alex Dover opened the scoring before the half hour mark with an opportunistic lob, celebrated with glee by a player (pictured) who has suffered two long-term ACL injuries in recent seasons. United had daylight early in the second half when Izzy Stockton scored for the fifth consecutive match and despite the dismissal of Mayh Baksh for two cautions United stood firm and saw out the last half hour of the match with relative comfort.
Maidenhead will now enter the semi-final draw alongside FAWNL rivals MK Dons and Abingdon United. Another Tier 4 side Ascot United will have to overcome New Bradwell St Peter if they are to take their place in what looks to be a very open competition hereon in.
