Maidenhead United players, staff and volunteers have made the long list for the 2025 Football in Berkshire Awards.
A number of the double-winning MUFC Women First and Development squad have been nominated across two categories. Included in the Young Female Player of The Season nominees are Ava Broke-Smith and Liberty Dieppe; Broke-Smith was voted Players' Player of the Season by her peers in the Development team, whereas Dieppe – a graduate from Maidenhead United Juniors – was top scorer for the team which won the Berks & Bucks Sunday Trophy.
In the Goal of the Season category, Broke-Smith has been nominated for the second goal of her hat-trick in the cup final at Beaconsfield when she scored with a right footed screamer from the edge of the box. Megan Halfacree is nominated for the same award for her magnificent first-time left footed strike from twenty-five yards against Portishead at York Road in October.
Ryan Robinson has been deservedly nominated for Manager of the Season in the women’s game after leading his side to that Berks & Bucks Sunday Trophy as his team became the first MUFC side since 1936 to reach the semi-final of a national cup competition after their memorable run in the FA Women’s National League Plate was ended by Stoke City at the last four stage.
Meanwhile, hard-working Groundsman and Men’s Team Kitman Jason Stewart has been nominated in the Grounds Team of the Season category after maintaining a pristine surface for both the men’s and women’s teams during 2024/25.
Club photographer Darren Woolley has deservedly been nominated again as Best Photographer, whilst congratulations are due to David Simoes, chair of the Maidenhead United Supporters Group, who has worked hard to improve the experience of match-going fans at York Road and beyond, organising a number of coach trips to away fixtures during the season. David has been nominated as Supporter of the Season. ‘One of our own’ Reece Smith is a nominee in the Male Player of the Season category, and we are delighted to have received a nomination for Best Website!
All nominees will now be considered for the FiB Awards Short List, which will see four nominees in each category go forward to the awards night at Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading on Wednesday, 18th June.
Tickets for this event celebrating the best in local football will go on sale at the same time that the short list is published.
