At our final home game of the regular league season against Dover Athletic we will be paying tribute to Magpies players, supporters abd personnel we have lost during the season with a minute of applause pre-match in their memory. Some of those we have sadly lost this season include:
Barry Baker, (top left) who made 73 starts for MUFC and 6 substitute appearances, scoring 3 goals in spells between 1971 and 1976.
Peter Brinsden, (top middle) who made 202 appearances for the first team between 1957 and 1969, scoring an impressive 70 goals as well as notching 132 goals in 151 known reserve appearances. Peter was a member of the 1965/66 Berks & Bucks Senior Cup-winning side which defeated Hazells of Aylesbury 4-2 at Wycombe in the final, with Peter himself scoring a brace in that match
Howard Goold, (top right) long term and long-distance supporter who continued to be a popular York Road regular even after moving to Herefordshire.
Kath Heath, (bottom left) who was one of the first players to represent MUFC at Futsal following the team’s inauguration in 2023.
Colin Hurley, (bottom middle) who made 33 appearances in the MUFC First Team and scored 4 goals between 1959 and 1963. As well as 81 known appearances for the Maidenhead United reserve team, scoring 6 goals between 1955 and 1964. In 1962/63, Colin was a regular member of the reserve team which came close to winning a ‘double’ – winning the Corinthian League reserve section and becoming Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup runners-up.
Dave Woolley, (bottom right) who made 374 starting appearances as a Magpie, in addition to 30 as a substitute between 1963 and 1975. He scored 69 goals for the club. His appearance record puts Dave into the top six of all time MUFC appearance makers and he was part of Berks & Bucks Senior Cup winning teams in 1966 and 1970.
