United’s women enjoyed their first victory of the season on Thursday night, edging out Ashford Town (Middlesex) in the Determining Round of the FA Women’s National League Cup. In an end-to-end tie, the Magpies led by two goals at half time thanks to goals from Macey-Nikiah Walters and Emily Norfolk. The away side hit back in the opening minute of the second half at York Road but United stretched their lead thanks to clinical finishes from Nat Cowell and Izzy Stockton. Ashford pulled another goal back as Maidenhead bravely hung on with ten players as they suffered another in-game injury but it is the Magpies who progress through in the Cup with the opportunity to welcome clubs such as Ipswich, Oxford or Watford in Round 1.

The Magpies will look to take their form from Thursday night into Sunday’s league fixture at York Road. They entertain newly promoted Bournemouth Sports in a 2pm kick off. MUFC Gold Members can attend for FREE, whilst admission otherwise is £5 for adults, £2 concessions.
