Mason, who is a Maidenhead United Diamonds player, was just 10 when his world changed with a diagnosis of Aplastic Anemia in February 2025. A once energetic and passionate footballer, his life was suddenly filled with hospital visits, treatments, and uncertainty.

Mason underwent 7 days of chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant on 29th May 2025 - taking just 9 days to engraft. His strength and determination to return to the pitch is inspiring. Football has always been Mason’s passion, and the thought of getting back to his team has played a huge role in his recovery.

Now, Maidenhead United Diamonds are coming together as a team and community to give back. We’re running 6KM to raise vital funds for the Aplastic Anemia Trust, so they can continue their life-saving work. Your support will help fund research, raise awareness, and give more children like Mason a fighting chance.

Mason’s mother, Sarah, said: “Earlier this year, my son Mason was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia, a rare and life-threatening condition that turned his world upside down.

“Mason has always lived and breathed football, but his diagnosis meant stepping away from the sport he loves. On May 21st, at just 11 years old, Mason began chemotherapy, followed by a stem cell transplant on May 29th.

“Throughout it all, Mason has shown remarkable strength, surrounded by the unwavering support of his friends, family, school, and football team – Maidenhead United Diamonds, who he can’t wait to rejoin on the pitch.

“Maidenhead United Diamonds are raising much needed funds for the Aplastic Anaemia charity whose research helped save my son’s life, his team is running 6KM this September as part of “KM’s for MK”.

“If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it would mean the world to us and help support vital research that gives children like Mason a second chance at life.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
