Maidenhead United FC Community Trust is proud to acknowledge the Prince Philip Trust Fund’s grant for its newest wellbeing project, ‘Wellbeing United’.

At the end of 2025 in a meeting chaired by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince Philip Trust elected to grant the Community Trust £2,500 for the launch of Wellbeing United – a project which aims to fund wellbeing support talks across Maidenhead United and the local community.

A pilot ran with Maidenhead United Women’s First Team in the summer of last year, providing an opportunity for players and staff to discuss their own emotions and how to be more resilient during important moments.

The first funded session was delivered to a group of 31 residents at Woodlands Park Village Centre with the theme of Managing Stress & Improving Wellbeing.

The session included interactive activities tailored to the group’s needs and abilities. Participants were introduced to simple, memorable techniques they can use immediately to boost resilience, improve focus, and support their overall wellbeing.

Engagement throughout the session was high. Many attendees chose to stay afterwards to continue conversations, ask questions, and request information about future wellbeing topics. The feedback was warm and personal, with participants highlighting not only the usefulness of the tools shared, but also the strong sense of connection created during the session.

Participant feedback included:

“I don’t feel I am the only one with worries now.”
“This has been so helpful.”
“I like that the techniques are simple and memorable.”
“It was a fun session and made me laugh and feel connected.”

Helen Preedy, Community Trust Manager, said: “We are grateful to the Prince Philip Trust for their generous grant in supporting the launch of Wellbeing United.

“Supporting the wellbeing of our community is a key focus of Maidenhead United, recognised most prominently through our front-of-shirt sponsorship of mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and is something we want to continue to build on going forward.

“My thanks to the Prince Philip Trust for their grant.”

Chris Aitken, Secretary and Trustee of The Prince Philip Trust Fund, said: “We are delighted to support this important mental health and wellbeing initiative at Maidenhead United.

“By encouraging open conversations about mental health and providing practical support, training and techniques, the programme is playing a vital role in reducing stigma and making a real difference within our local community.”
