It was a third successive weekend with silverware for Maidenhead United’s Walking Football division – this time the turn of the Over 60s.
Sunday, 22nd February at Bisham Abbey saw the final round in the Thames Valley Walking Football League Autumn/Winter season for Maidenhead United’s Men’s Over 60s Walking Football team.
The Magpies went into the final day sat second in the TVWFL Division 3, three points behind the league leaders. However, a run of three wins and a draw saw United beat South Reading to the title.
The season of 16 games resulted in 10 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses with 20 goals scored and only 8 conceded.
It follows recent successes for Maidenhead United’s Walking Football outfits, including the Women’s Over 50s and Men’s Over 50s earlier in the month.
Manager Steve Brand said: “Sunday's outing saw a convincing 1-0, 1-0, 2-0 wins and 1-1 draw. Our tally for the day could have easily doubled with the amount of near misses we had.
“This season has been a turnaround for both the Men’s Over 50s and 60s leagues, and quite rightly everyone is proud of their achievements.”
