Maidenhead United vs Boston United

Head to head
After eight months, three weeks and four days, the National League 2024/25 season concludes on Bank Holiday Monday.
It’s been a difficult campaign for Maidenhead United, where, at times, relegation looked a foregone conclusion, but a resurgent April for the Magpies leaves a fighting chance as we head into the final day.
It won’t just be the bumper crowd in attendance who have their eyes on York Road. Supporters of Dagenham & Redbridge and Wealdstone, away to Solihull Moors and at home to Halifax respectively, will also be conscious the result in Berkshire.
To survive, the Magpies need to defeat Boston, while hoping Dagenham lose and Wealdstone fail to win. The aspect which is in United’s hands is, at the very least, favourable. An unbeaten April saw three wins against Tamworth, Halifax, and Ebbsfleet, along with two draws against Woking and Wealdstone.
Monday’s opponents are safe from relegation, and are playing for pride after a resurgent second half of the season. Boston cemented safety with a 2-1 win over Gateshead last Saturday, although it’s largely been the Pilgrims’ home form which have contributed to their remarkable turnaround.
In the reverse fixture, the Magpies were victorious as Shawn McCoulsky and Reece Smith helped bring back the three points back to Berkshire. Another victory, along with favourable results elsewhere, could lead to a party atmosphere on the final day of the season, capping off a great escape for the ages.
