Maidenhead United vs Braintree Town

Head to head

It’s an enormous encounter in the Vanarama National League on Tuesday night as we welcome Braintree Town to York Road.

Much like the Magpies, the Iron find themselves in the bottom third of the table with 12 games to play. After a shaky start to their first season back in the fifth division, a strong home form has propelled them up to 17th in the table on 38 points – five points ahead of United in 22nd.

Maidenhead come into this fixture on the back of three two-goal defeats in succession. A flat performance against Yeovil was succeeded by tough battles against 2nd-placed York and 3rd-placed Forest Green Rovers. With two challenging sides out of the way, United enter their final 12 games with six of the bottom eight still to play, with Tuesday being the first of those fixtures.

Braintree approach Tuesday night on the back of a 1-0 win over Eastleigh at the Rare Breed Meat Co. Stadium. Marley Marshall-Miranda’s 3rd minute goal was enough to secure the three points, but the Iron suffered a late blow when defender Ryan Clamplin was sent off in the 82nd minute.

Both sides have had their successes at the expense of each other over the years, with United winning the reverse fixture back in November. Shawn McCoulsky and Tristan Abrahams made it two goals in ten minutes, with Sam Barratt’s penalty putting the game to bed after Kyrell Jeremiah Lisbie clawed one back after coming off the bench.
