Maidenhead United Women complete their group stage of the FAWNL Cup as they take on the talented PGA side of eight-time WSL winners Chelsea. United have three points in the group stage, having beaten Wycombe Wanderers 4-1, following a 5-2 defeat to Tier 3 side Swindon Town. Chelsea top the group with six points from six.

Permutations

The group stage comprises 22 groups of four teams who play each other once. The 22 group winners and 10 best runners-up advance to the Cup knockout stages. The other 12 runners-up, and 20 best third-placed teams advance to the National League Plate knockout stages. From there, both the Cup and the Plate hold four knockout rounds before the finals of each competition. The Magpies are currently third in their group, with Swindon Town (three points) taking on Wycombe Wanderers (zero points) in the other Group D fixture in this final round of games

Previously

Almost a year to the day the sides last met in this competition last season. Chelsea recorded an impressive 7-1 victory but United still qualified for the Plate competition. A measure of the quality that Chelsea have in their ranks is demonstrated by the fact that Eva Hendle and Lois Shooter - who scored the seven Chelsea goals that day at York Road between them - have this summer joined Scottish giants Rangers and WSL2 side Nottingham Forest on loan respectively.

The 2026/27 vintage of Chelsea PGA suffered a 2-0 defeat by rivals Arsenal last time out. The Magpies meanwhile completed a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory at Torquay United.
