Maidenhead United host League One outfit Crawley Town in the First Round Proper of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, 2nd November. 

 

The two sides will battle it out for a place in the Second Round, with the result to be decided on the day under the competition’s new format. Extra time will take place if the scores are level after 90 minutes, while a penalty shootout will determine the result if required. 

 

It’s not since 1969 when the Magpies and Crawley last faced each other in the Premier Midweek Floodlit League. A pair of 2-0 victories for the Red Devils proved to be the difference in the only two meetings to-date between the two sides. 

 

The Magpies advanced through to the First Round of this year’s competition after a 3-0 victory over Taunton Town in a Tuesday night replay at York Road. Crawley, meanwhile, enter the competition along with 47 other clubs in the lower echelons of the English Football League. 

 

United enjoyed a largely successful October, with their only loss of the month coming in the form of last weekend’s defeat at Yeovil Town. It marks a stark contrast to the visitors’ fortune, with a 3-0 win over Lincoln City being the highlight of an otherwise disappointing start to the season for League One’s 22nd-placed side.

U16 children and young people attending first team games at York Road MUST be accompanied by an adult (18 and above). To assist with the implementation of this policy, unaccompanied supporters aged 16 to 18 may be asked to for ID.
