Gateshead vs Maidenhead United

Head to head

It’s our longest away trip of the season this weekend as we make the trip north to take on Gateshead.

United come into the game seeking a result at a ground where fond memories are few and far between. Of the four encounters thus far at the Gateshead International Stadium, the Magpies have scored twice and conceded 14. Nevertheless, they have been successful on the Tyne before, namely a 1-0 win in 2019 with Remy Clerima scoring the only goal of the game.

Both sides enter the run-in looking to turnaround their current form. United’s last five have seen four defeats and a 3-3 draw against Braintree, while the Heed are looking to avoid a third straight loss after a slump in form which includes draws against AFC Fylde and Eastleigh.

The points have never been shared in the nine clashes between the two “Heads”, with the latter proving victorious on seven occasions. An early red card for Kevin Lokko preceded a 5-0 win for the Heed back in November. Nevertheless, Maidenhead have a history of avoiding relegation after an encounter with Saturday’s hosts. Last season, a 2-1 win secured mathematical survival for United, and a big result could pave the way for another push late in the campaign.
