The Magpies host Gateshead this weekend at York Road in an important clash for both sides. 

 

United have suffered a slump in form in recent weeks having lost their last three in the league, and will be looking to recreate the legendary scenes which saw us secure survival in last year’s campaign. It could be a tough ask against a Gateshead side which is challenging for promotion, although the visitors themselves are in need of a win after a difficult November. 

 

Maidenhead’s last home win on a Saturday came against Gateshead some seven months ago – a game which saw United’s first ever win over what has become somewhat of a bogey side. Prior to that game, the Heed had won all bar one of our encounters. 

 

Gateshead will be buoyed that the issues which denied them a playoff campaign last season have been resolved following an agreement with the local authority and the EFL. They currently sit 5th in the National League behind Oldham Athletic on goal difference, while United will be looking for a win to escape the relegation zone providing favourable results elsewhere.
