Hartlepool United vs Maidenhead United

Head to head

The Magpies make the long trip north to Victoria Park this weekend to take on Hartlepool United in the Vanarama National League.

Hartlepool will consider themselves still in contention for the playoff places. They sit two places and three points behind 7th-placed Altrincham. However, with the sides around them holding games in hand, a strong conclusion to the season will be needed if they are to have a chance at promotion. Maidenhead, meanwhile, climbed out of the relegation zone last weekend, and could rise as high as 18th if they are to secure their first victory on the road since beating Braintree 3-1 in November.

Both sides have earned six points in their last five games, with the Pools enjoying an unbeaten February so far. The differences, however, come in the results; Hartlepool have only amassed one win in their last five, with three draws against Tamworth, Braintree, and Woking. On the other hand, the Magpies have not shared the points since the middle of December, with victories over AFC Fylde and Southend United fundamental to a recent climb up the table.

A draw was the result in the last encounter between the two sides, with Adam Campbell cancelling out Sam Barratt’s first-half penalty in October last year, but a point apiece is a rarity when the two sides meet.
