The Magpies conclude their trio of midweek nighters away in Greater Manchester with a trip to Oldham Athletic on Tuesday, 18th February. 

 

United will be hoping third time’s the charm following defeats early in the season at Rochdale and Altrincham. They will be buoyed, no matter, by an excellent defensive performance against a playoff-chasing Hartlepool United on Saturday in which the Magpies picked up their first points on the road in almost three months. 

 

Tuesday’s hosts, currently sitting 4th in the National League, look set for a quarter-final appearance in the playoffs. Interestingly, the bulk of their 56 points have come on the road (30), rather than at Boundary Park (26). Their three wins in their last five were all earned elsewhere in the country, and their last home win came more than two months ago against Wealdstone. 

 

A win for United would be their first in six attempts against Oldham. The reverse fixture - a thrilling 2-2 draw at York Road - was the third draw between the two sides, with the Latics victorious in the other two encounters.
