Tonight the Magpies go up against Southern Regional Women's Football League outfit Reading in the Combined Counties League Women's Cup, with a place in the last four up for grabs.
The Opposition
Reading - a WSL club as recently as 2023 - currently occupy a midtable place in Tier 5 of women's football, in the Southern Regional Women's Football League Premier Division. Reading do however have games in hand on most of the sides in the division. They have won just one of their last four league and cup matches, however their most recent outing was a 7-0 success at bottom side Badshot Lea.
The Royals are managed by Ed Jackson-Norris whose successful spell in charge of Maidenhead United Women ended in the summer when he joined Reading. Under Ed's management, United won the Combined Counties League Women's Cup in 2023/24. There are a number of former Magpies in the Reading squad.
Form Guide
Since being defeated by Ascot United in the final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup, United have picked up five points from their three most recent FAWNL matches - conceding just once - and also defeated Tier 5 side Fleet Town 5-0 on their patch in the last round of the Combined Counties League Women's Cup. One point from their final two FAWNL games will secure a first ever top-half finish for Maidenhead at this level in Dave Kitson's first season at the helm.
The two sides last met last season in the semi-final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup, United winning 3-0 in the tie played at Arbour Park.
