Maidenhead United vs Southend United

Head to head

The Magpies welcome Southend United to York Road this weekend as they look to replicate a memorable evening under the lights just three weeks ago.

It’s United’s first game back at York Road since the 4-1 win over AFC Fylde, and their first in a fortnight altogether after postponements due to heavy rainfall and cup commitments for rival outfits.

The visitors have also enjoyed a comparatively quietened few weeks as we enter a busy stage of the season. Much like Maidenhead, the Shrimpers’ last win in the league came against AFC Fylde at the end of January, before a shock 1-0 defeat to Isthmian League South East Division outfit Sittingbourne last weekend in the FA Trophy.

It’s rare for Maidenhead and Southend to meet on a Saturday afternoon, and this weekend marks the first 3pm kick off in Berkshire between the two sides. The Shrimpers have often got the better of the two with four wins in the seven encounters thus far, with the Magpies taking three points on two occasions including the reverse fixture at Roots Hall in October last year.
