It’s our final Saturday 3pm home fixture of the season this weekend as we welcome Tamworth to York Road for a crucial Vanarama National League encounter. 

 

United’s run-in got off to a bad start last Saturday after returning from Dagenham & Redbridge empty handed. With the Magpies’ home form netting them 55% of their points all season, the support from the York Road faithful could be the difference between defeat or a draw, and a much-needed win. 

 

Tamworth, on the other hand, have enjoyed a dream return to the National League following promotion last season. The Lambs sit only three points off the playoff places, with only league leaders Barnet above them in the five-game form table. March alone saw Tamworth gain 16 of a possible 18 points, and a victory this weekend would be their fourth in succession. 

 

The Lambs were the victors when the two sides met earlier in the season when Alan Devonshire’s latest signing, Chris Wreh, joined Ben Acquaye and Nathan Tshikuna on the scoresheet. Tobi Sho-Silva scored United’s only goal in that game – a late consolation just before the final whistle.
