The Magpies welcome Wealdstone to York Road on Boxing Day for what has become an annual tradition in recent years. 

 

United once again host the Stones for the post-Christmas fixture, although there will be no return match on New Year's Day following a league-implemented change to scheduling over the summer. 

 

This year’s Boxing Day match will mark the third encounter in as many seasons between the two sides, and Alan Devonshire’s side will be hoping that third time’s the charm with the Stones having won the past two Boxing Day matches. 

 

United come into Thursday’s fixture off the back of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Eastleigh. However, the Magpies will want to take inspiration from the previous game at York Road, where a valiant 10-man Maidenhead almost secured three points against Solihull Moors. 

 

Wealdstone, like Maidenhead, find themselves towards the relegation zone, but the visitors will be buoyed by their previous three matches in which they’ve scored eight goals cumulatively. Three of those goals came from Oldham loanee Alex Reid – a striker who’s netted six during his short spell with the club.
