York City vs Maidenhead United

The Magpies make the trip north to Yorkshire this weekend to take on York City at the LNER Community Stadium.

United will be buoyed by Tuesday night’s 3-1 victory over Braintree Town, with goals from Shawn McCoulsky, Tristan Abrahams and Sam Barratt earning three much-needed points. It marked a stark contrast to York’s fortunes as the Minstermen suffered a shock 3-0 defeat on the road to Altrincham.

Saturday’s fixture will be the fifth encounter between the Magpies and their hosts. The 2022/23 campaign saw victories for each side at the other’s stadium, while last season’s fixtures resulted in a pair of 1-1 draws. Ashley Nathanial-George scored Maidenhead’s last goal at the LNER Community Stadium back in February, although Alan Devonshire will hope the former Magpie leaves his shooting boots at home with ANG now a regular starter for the Minstermen following his transfer over the summer.

York currently sit 3rd in the National League, and have won all their home games since the end of September. Meanwhile, Tuesday’s win elevated the Magpies up to 21st on goal difference, and a point on the road this weekend could take United out of the relegation zone depending on favourable results elsewhere.
