Alan Devonshire made three changes from the side that lost 2-1 to Solihull Moors on Saturday with debuts for loan signings Thierry Latty-Fairweather and Owen Cochrane as well as Tristan Abrahams replacing Tyrese Dyce, Zak Bell and Shawn McCoulsky.

The visitors started the livelier of the two sides with the first half-chance falling to Tom Crawford whose effort from range failed to trouble Craig Ross.

In an end-to-end start to the game, Maidenhead’s first chance fell to Tristan Abrahams after being played through by Reece Smith. His effort from a tight angle was well stopped by Ethan Ross in net.

The Magpies continued to grow into the game with some lively play which resulted in a corner. Smith’s delivery fell to Casey Pettit who couldn’t quite get his effort on target.

Max Haygarth was the next to test his luck for the visitors whose effort from inside the box was held well by Craig Ross.

Following a lengthy spell of possession Altrincham took the lead after thirty-six minutes when a free-kick found the head of James Jones who guided his header into the bottom corner.

Altrincham continued to control things after the goal and an opportunity fell to Haygarth out of nothing, his attempted lob was well caught by Craig Ross.

HALF-TIME: Maidenhead United 0-1 Altrincham

Alan Devonshire would’ve been pleased with the reaction of the Magpies following the interval with Maidenhead starting well. An inviting ball by Pettit caused a scramble which Alty eventually dealt with.

Joshua Johnson was the next to test his luck from range after a good move, his effort blazed well over the bar.

Johnson tried his luck again minutes later after a good ball from Cochrane played him through, he clipped the post with his effort.

The Magpies continued to control the second half in terms of possession but were struggling to test Ethan Ross.

Haygarth had a fantastic opportunity to double the visitors lead but his strike was well stopped by Craig Ross who parried and eventually cleared.

As the game progressed into the latter stages, the Magpies continued to look bright and almost scored at the death after Smith’s effort beat Ross but also skimmed past the post.
