Last time out against The Whites was one to remember as United ran riot on the road. Following the news of Dev’s departure, his squad gave him the sendoff he deserved with a 6-0 win in his closing week in the role. Josh Popoola got the scoring started as he found the corner from Josh Umerah’s set back. Liam Dulson made it two just four minutes later, smashing in from inside the six-yard box. Leaving a two-goal advantage at the break, but it would be the second 45 where United enter cruise control. Wave after wave of attacks saw Josh Umerah make it three, the skipper made it four no longer than a couple of minutes later. Popoola got his second and United’s fifth soon after the hour mark, before Noah Stewart came on to grab his first United league goal with eight to play.
Players to have played for both are sparse, likely due to Salisbury FC’s inception in 2011. One who has is our summer signing, Jordon Ragguette, moving from one club to another. A mainstay in The Whites last campaign, Jordon made 50 appearances and scored five times. Jordon’s keen eye for an effort on goal is something that hasn’t faded, despite him yet to notch for United there have been a few close calls. Our forward-thinking fullback has now played 23 times in black and white stripes contributing a handful of assists to go along with that total.
Another for both is someone between the sticks, Alexis André Jr. A product of the Nike Academy, Alexis joined Salisbury in December 2019 on an emergency loan from Bristol Rovers, where he was understudy to Jordi van Stappershoef. He then rejoined The Whites again in October 2020 but only making a few appearances across his two short spells. He moved to The Magpies in the summer of 2022, staying for the single season and appearing 23 times between the posts. Alexis André now plays his football in the Belgian Second Division with RFC Liège.
A few more players have played for United and Salisbury City, but all of which have now retired. These include Ben Wright, Rory Hill, Jake Reid, Ashan Holgate and Chris Flood. The most notable of which for United would be Ben Wright and Jake Reid who both featured in the 2015/16 season. Dev's first choice strike partnership for the one season they stayed, Wright made 40 appearances scoring 14 while Reid made 43 and scored 11 times.
Saturday saw Salisbury forced to settle for a point against Chelmsford as Lyle Taylor scored at either end of the 90 minutes. Ollie Morgan provided a near instantaneous response to the opener, his strike rebounded of the Chelmsford defender into the net. Soon after the break, Salisbury’s top scorer Noah Coppin grabbed his tenth of the season. Given the easy job as Josh Hedges played a square pass across the goal for Coppin to tap home. Mo Dabre’s sending off with 15 to go put Salisbury under plenty of pressure in the closing stages and they’d soon buckle conceding a penalty which Taylor slotted in. Coppin will be the one to watch as he proves to be a tricky customer for many of the legaue's defences, entering a strong run of form with three in his last four.
It was a day to enjoy for United on Saturday as Josh Umerah and Liam Dulson scored without reply from the visiting Daggers. Dulson was provider early on, delivering a dangerous ball in that landed perfectly at the feet of Umerah to slot under ex-Magpie Sam Howes. A game of much toing and froing for the middle eighty minutes at times looked like it could go either way, but resolute defending kept the clean sheet intact. Tireless as ever, Asher Yearwood pressed late on and pounced on a defensive mishap to launch an attack. He set Dillon De Silva on the right who played it across the area for Liam to smash in and secure all three points.
