It was a landmark day for Maidenhead United FC as the club proudly fielded two women’s walking football teams for the first time.

The 2026 Season began with over 20 players signed on for the new season — a huge milestone reflecting the growth and strength of the squad.

In the Thames Valley Walking Football League Division 3, newly promoted Maidenhead Blacks opened their campaign with two well-earned 0–0 draws against Bicester and Hersham, demonstrating strong organisation and disciplined defensive play, and were unfortunate to concede a late free kick in a narrow defeat to Woking Flamingos.

The team responded positively with a confident 2–0 win over Denham, including a superbly worked move straight from kick-off that set the tone of the game. In their final fixture, a well-taken free kick proved decisive in a 1–0 victory over Woking Perform. A strong and cohesive team display across all matches sees Maidenhead Blacks sitting 3rd in Division 3 after the first round of fixtures.

For Maidenhead Whites in Division 4, this was their first competitive outing together. Despite early nerves in a 2–0 loss to Hersham, there were strong defensive displays and impressive saves from Becs.

A narrow 1–0 defeat to South Reading followed, before Cookie’s penalty secured a deserved 1–0 victory over Oxford B. A disciplined 0–0 draw against Cheshunt showed growing confidence, while the final game ended in a 2–0 loss to Watford, the division’s top scorers of the round. A promising start for a new squad leaves Maidenhead Whites joint 4th in Division 4 after the first matchday.
