MUWFC | Club Awards Winners 2025/26

At the end of a record-breaking season, MUWFC celebrated together at their awards ceremony at the weekend.

Dave Kitson’s Magpies recorded several ‘best-evers’ in terms of FA Women’s National League football in what was the club’s eleventh season at Tier 4 in the women’s football pyramid in England, including:

• Highest ever FAWNL Finish - Fifth Place.

• Fewest FAWNL defeats in a season - Seven.

• Best FAWNL ever defensive record – 1.59 goals conceded per game.

• First ever FAWNL positive goal-difference - +2

The awards dished out saw a number of players and individuals honoured, with cultured defender Charley Evans taking a clean sweep of manager, staff and players’ player of the season. Consistent Aaliyah Charles was voted MUSG Supporters Player of the Season and Aaliyah also picked up the second annual Amy Saunders award – named after the long serving former MUWFC captain – as the player to have hit the highest standards of professionalism and commitment to the club cause over the season.

Katie Akerman and Izzy Stockton were honoured for their goal and assist contributions, Molly McKeever was young player of the season whilst Megan Harper was rewarded for leading the opposition player of the season vote. Captain Simone O’Brien picked up the leadership award, whilst Alex Dover was honoured at the end of her 17th season with the club. Groundsman and kit man Jason Stewart deservedly gained recognition with the unsung hero award, whilst coach Sean Hillier – at the end of his first season with the club – picked up the ‘game changer’ award to recognise his successful efforts in recruitment and his highly-rated coaching.

A number of fun awards were also handed out during a light-hearted afternoon as the players and staff played games and enjoyed a buffet lunch at the end of a campaign during which so much hard work has been put in by so many individuals.
