Maidenhead United Women took on near-neigbours and FA Women's National League newcomers Ascot United in their second pre-season outing on Sunday afternoon. A second half goal from the hosts was all that divided the sides on the day as manager Dave Kitson took the opportunity to see players current and new in action.

Kitson remarked after the match: "It was a good competitive game against a very good Ascot side riding high off the back of promotion. Gradually (assistant manager) Sean (Hillier) and I are discovering the areas where we need to improve the team, but also we're becoming familiar with the areas in which the team functions well. We've lost a number of players this summer for one reason or another and so it will take a little longer than usual to build out the squad, but that is to be seen by everbody as a wonderful opportunity to move ourselves forward."

With a number of pre-season games remaining and training sessions on Monday and Tuesday nights ahead of the start of the FAWNL season on Sunday 17th August there has never been a better time to join a MUWFC side under new management. Any players wanting to come and trial with the team are warmly welcome to get in touch via secretary@maidenheadunitedfc.org . The club are also keen to add to their back-room staff, so if you'd like to become involved with the team we would encourage interested parties to reach out.
