Our 2024/25 season came to its formal conclusion on Thursday, 12th June with our annual fundraiser in aid of Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
CALM has been our front-of-shirt sponsor across the Maidenhead United umbrella for the past two seasons. This initiative is thanks to the support of nine businesses, without whom the CALM partnership would not be possible.

Following on from last year’s charity football match at York Road, this year’s fundraiser was held in the form of a charity golf tournament at Maidenhead Golf Club. It was a fitting location, given that the club will be relocating at the end of the year, allowing many golfers to play the stunning course for one last time.
16 fourballs registered for the tournament, with groups beginning simultaneously in a shotgun start. Upon reaching the first tee, golfers could elect to buy professional trick shot artist’s Jeremy Dale’s drive – a particularly useful asset for those who found themselves in the rough or on the adjacent 18th fairway.

A light drizzle did not dampen spirits as the groups returned to the clubhouse at 1:30pm, where Mr Dale performed a spectacular trick shot exhibition for the scores in attendance.

Following a delicious two-course meal, attendees took part in a charity raffle and auction, with prizes up for grabs in support of CALM.
The highest scorers on the day were “And In Last Place”, but with MUFC teams ineligible for the top prize, the plaudits went to Fore Fore Too with a stableford score of 93. Team Equity (89) and Team Cluberly (88) rounded off the podium.

Sian Lancaster, Commercial Director, said: “It was wonderful to see so many people coming together in support of CALM and the vital work they do. We truly appreciate your support and hope you had a fantastic time on (and off!) the course.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the local businesses too that supported and contributed to the charity event.
“We raised an incredible £5,605! This amount, for example, will enable CALM to fund their life-saving helpline for an entire evening – helping hundreds of people find a reason to stay.
“Thank you once again for your generosity, spirit, and support. Together, we are starting conversations and helping to end suicide.”

Luis Mackness, Services Manager – CALM Clubs, said: “A massive thanks to the football club and everyone in attendance last week for a really important fundraiser. Thanks too for inviting us to attend and say a few words about our work and the partnership with Maidenhead United.
“As we embark on a third season working with MUFC, we're increasing our goals again. Our mutual ambition to take CALM's campaigns and make a difference locally is well underway but it's vital to always try and add vital donations to make the work possible. The golf day did exactly that and we're very grateful.”
