The Magpies second pre-season outing ahead of the 2025/26 Enterprise National League South campaign took Alan Devonshire's men to Oxford Sports Park to face the Under 21 side of EFL Championship club Oxford United on Tuesday, 15th July.

Given the recent heatwave, Dev's men were surprised to find gale-force winds sweeping across the U's impressive Horspath Road facility and the difficult conditions made quality football a real difficulty, with the match resulting in a goalless draw of few chances.

Perhaps the best opportunity of the game came early on when a Magpies throw-in was flicked on, but Asher Yearwood (pictured) put his far post effort wide.

A cute Sam Barratt pass almost unlocked the home defence, with last-gasp defending frustrating the Magpies.

There were marginally more opportunities on goal in the second half; Yearwood saw his free-kick whip into the sidenetting and Manny Onariase's looping header from a Barratt long throw was gathered by the U's goalkeeper.

At the other end, Jordi van Stappershoef had to get down well to keep out Oxford's best chance at the far post.

Jordon Raguette went close with a shot from distance for Maidenhead before some composed defending from youngster Josh McMenemy snuffed out a dangerous break for the hosts as the strong winds blew in a heavy rain shower late in the game.

Attention will now turn to Saturday's visit of the West Ham Under 23 side to York Road on Saturday 19th July, with tickets on sale HERE
