Magpies left back Chloe Webb put in another stellar performance at the weekend as United took their first away point of the new FAWNL with a draw at Bridgwater which was really the least they deserved.

United had the best of the chances, with Chloe putting in any number of delicious crosses into the box which just evaded an outstretched boot of a United player on saturated surface on what was largely a frustrating afternoon in the pouring Somerset rain. Speaking after the game, Chloe reflected modestly: “I hope to be an attacking threat, I like going forward and linking up with my winger, hopefully creating chances going forward.”

Onto the next match and this coming Sunday there is a small matter of an all-Berkshire affair with Ascot United (York Road, 2pm) making the short trip for the first ever FAWNL meeting between the clubs. Like The Yellas themselves, Chloe has settled in superbly at Tier 4 after winning promotion with Brentford from Tier 6 last season and she summarised the difference between the levels: “The game (at Tier 4) is much more aggressive and at a faster pace. Teams we play have a better shape when in and out of possession.”

Chloe – who in sponsored for 2025/26 by the Wilsons, Ciara Newell, and Brook House Nursery – has enjoyed being a Magpie so far and playing at York Road, admitting “the pitch has been great to play on and I’m slowly getting used to it, especially considering I am playing with a new group of girls. Maidenhead has been so welcoming to me and the girls have been wonderful.” Manager Dave Kitson will be hopeful that a nicely settled Chloe Webb will continue proving herself an asset as the season progresses.
