We are pleased to announce that Thierry Latty-Fairweather has extended his tenure with the Magpies until January 2025.

Latty-Fairweather joined the Magpies on a one-month loan in August from York City. So far this season, the defender has started seven games before an injury at Tamworth left him on the sidelines.

He returned to the Minstermen last month, but has re-signed with the Magpies until the New Year.

“What motivated me to extend was the general buzz around the place – everyone is so friendly, and so welcoming,” said Latty-Fairweather. “I’m just playing games as well, helping me improve as a player.”

The full-back said he “loved” his maiden stint with United, noting a familiar environment to his parent club despite differing playing styles.

“I just want to push us as high up the table as possible,” said the 21-year-old upon his return to York Road. “[I want to] get some goals, some assists, and help keep some clean sheets.

“I feel like I’ve definitely improved on my defending. At York, we’ve had the ball a lot more, so I wouldn’t have to worry about defending as much. But now, I’ve to really focus on my defending, winning individual duels, aerial duels – I feel like I’ve developed upon that a lot.”

Latty-Fairweather added that he was “glad” the new loan deal would allow him to further develop his talents as a defender.
