Maidenhead United are delighted to welcome experienced midfielder Christian N’Guessan.
The 27-year-old midfielder joins from Dagenham & Redbridge following 83 appearances and a singular goal across the last two campaigns. Christian also enjoyed a spell with Ebbsfleet United between 2021-23, in which he helped them gain promotion to the National League while also being named in National League South Team of the Season.
An energetic midfielder, Christian is widely well-regarded for his excellence in covering ground, pressing opponents and dominating duels in the middle of the park. His ability to be combative along with sound technical ability allows to operate comfortably from deeper positions and transition the ball up the pitch quickly.
Following his seventh signing of the summer, Ryan Peters said: “I have watched Christian over a number of years against us and always been impressed with how he commanded the midfield.
“Last season I thought we lacked a natural 6, acquiring Christian has given us that rock in front of the back line. Delighted to get this deal over the line.”
Upon his arrival at York Road, Christian said: “It feels really good to be here, really excited to get started.
“I’ve come here after speaking with the Gaffer, speaking with Lee, and I really like everything that they have said and everything they want to do with the club. So, I just want to be a part of that and help the team as much as possible.”
Elaborating on how he will help the team, Christian said: “I’m experienced in and round this level. I’ve played a lot of games at this level and higher and I’ve been successful as well.
“So hopefully, I can bring a bit of that experience and some previous success to the club.”
Describing his play style and what fans can expect from him, Christian ticks the boxes Ryan Peters needed: “I’m a holding midfielder by trade, but I can play anywhere in midfield. I’m quite composed on the ball; I like to get on the ball and help the team play as much as possible.”
Speaking on ambitions ahead of his maiden United season, Christian said: “Every season I go into, I’m trying to win the league – that’s always the aim.
“I think if you aim any lower than that, then you’re doing yourself a disservice. So, for me, we’ll always try and be top spot, and worst-case scenario you’re in and around it.”
Signing off with a message for the fans, Christian delivered: “I’m looking forward to meeting you guys. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone down at the stadium and hopefully we can have a great season together.”
