Welcome to York Road, Ruben and Joseph!
It has been a busy weekend for Alan Devonshire who has completed the signing of two exciting young and hungry prospects as the Magpies build towards our eighth consecutive season in the Vanarama National League.

On Saturday afternoon we announced the capture of Ruben Carvalho, a 23 year-old winger most recently with Wingate & Finchley with whom he scored 17 goals in 2023/24, providing seven assists as The Blues reached the Isthmian Premier League play-offs.

Chief Scout Lee Devonshire revealed: “Our awareness of Ruben first came from his days at Rising Ballers and after a stint at Charlton Athletic he found himself back in non-league. Over the past 12 months he has really blossomed at Wingate at Step 3. A talented attacking midfielder with quick feet, ability to go past a man and strong technique off both feet he has the potential to kick on at Step 1 and beyond.”

On Monday, United put pen-to-paper with another wide player, Joseph Ajose signing on after finishing his spell with Queens Park Rangers. Lee Devonshire said of the ambitious 22 year-old: “Joseph has been at QPR for a few years and at Reading before that. A left footed, quick and direct winger who can play across the front line who will bring real pace to our attack. Joseph is another young player with potential to kick on with us.”

We warmly welcome both Ruben and Joseph to the club and wish the pair a fruitful spell at York Road.
