Young Magpies Advance In FA Youth Cup
Posted on 24th October 2024
Maidenhead United Academy enjoyed another successful FA Youth Cup battle on Wednesday evening at York Road, winning their Third Qualifying Round tie by a 3-0 margin against Eastbourne United.
United – who triumphed 4-3 in a thriller at Wealdstone in the previous round - showed resilience to reach the interval goalless after a first half largely dominated by the spirited visitors.
Maidenhead took control in the second period, opening the scoring early in the second half thanks to Enzo Pashaj’s finish when put through one-on-one with the visiting ‘keeper. The impressive Quaye Vine added a second with just over 15 minutes to play as the Magpies bossed the second period, and there was further gloss put on the scoreline when substitute Joe Reid went round the ‘keeper to slot home from a tight angle.
Aaron O’Brien’s young Magpies have therefore qualified for the First Round Proper for the first time since 2019 and they have been rewarded with a home tie against Burgess Hill on a date to be fixed.
