Maidenhead United Women were roared over the line on Sunday afternoon at York Road by their mascots for the day, the Maidenhead United Juniors Under 7 Warriors! The Warriors loud support helped the Magpies claim a point against Bristol Rovers in an exciting 2-2 draw which guarantee a historic first-ever top half finish in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South West, Tier 4 of women’s football in England.
The Warrioes also bring their collective character into making a big impression in grassroots football; combining passion, teamwork, and resilience well beyond their years. Arven, Ava, Evie, Harriet, Jasmine, Julia, Millie, Romilly, Skye and Tora all proudly represent Maidenhead United Juniors as part of the U7 Warriors squad, competing in the Berks County Girls Football League. This season has been particularly exciting, as the team took part in a new 3v3 “future fit” trial introduced by The Football Association, designed to give young players more touches on the ball and accelerate their development.
Week in, week out, the Warriors showed incredible commitment. Whether playing under clear blue skies, battling through frosty mornings, or braving torrential rain, the girls arrived ready to give their all. Their determination and enthusiasm have been a constant, no matter the conditions or the strength of the opposition.
What truly sets this team apart, however, is their spirit. The Warriors embody everything grassroots football should be about: friendship, encouragement, and joy. They celebrate each other’s successes, support one another through challenges, and never lose sight of having fun. That sense of togetherness has become their greatest strength.
Behind the scenes, parents and coaches Kieron, Gordon and James have watched with immense pride as the girls have grown in confidence and ability throughout the season. Their dedication, combined with the players’ energy and positivity, has created a truly special team environment.
The Maidenhead United Juniors U7 Warriors are more than just a football team—they are a shining example of what youth sport can achieve when teamwork, enjoyment and passion come first. Perhaps one day they might provide the future generation of Maidenhead United Women players!
