OUR PRIMARY STARS WORK

OUR PRIMARY STARS WORK

PREMIER LEAGUE PRIMARY STARS FUNDING

The Premier League Primary Stars programme is an initiative designed to inspire children through the power of football. It aims to promote physical activity, teamwork, and essential life skills among young people. This programme provides resources and support to schools, helping them engage students in a fun and educational way.

We are excited about the opportunity to work with the Premier League Primary Stars programme. This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission at Maidenhead United FC to nurture young talent and foster a love for the game. Together, we can create a positive impact in our community and inspire the next generation of footballers and human-beings.

The £25,000 funding provided through the Premier League Primary Stars programme will significantly support Maidenhead United FC. It will enable us to enhance our youth development initiatives, provide additional training resources, and create more opportunities for local schools to engage with football. Our goal is to instill important values such as respect, resilience, and teamwork while ensuring that children have fun and stay active.

We look forward to collaborating closely with the Premier League Primary Stars programme. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people in our community, helping them to thrive both on and off the pitch.

CONGRATULATIONS!

The Year 5/6 football tournaments were held with the aim of promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical activity among students. The event brought together teams from various schools, fostering a spirit of friendly competition with the winner schools, entering the next round of fixtures, soon to take place in the New Year, with the winning schools representing Maidenhead United FC.

A total of 22 teams participated across the Boys/Mixed (10 teams) and Girls only (12 teams) tournaments, each representing their respective schools. For the Boys tournament, teams were put into a league format, while the Girls only tournament saw 2 groups of 6 teams, with matches scheduled throughout the morning.

The tournaments featured a series of exciting matches, with each team displaying impressive skills and determination. The matches were played ensuring that all teams had the opportunity to compete against each other.

At the end of the tournament, the top teams were recognized for their achievements. Congratulations to:

St Marys – who won the boys/mixed tournament. The team was made up of 8 players, and they did not lose a game throughout the whole tournament! Really well done.

Dedworth Middle – who won the girls only tournament. Very impressive team spirit and determination to help one another out both in attack and defence.

Oldfield Primary – who were runners up in our Girls only tournament. Competed and won majority of their games, and in the final was beaten by Dedworth Middle.

The Year 5/6 football tournament was a great success, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their talents and enjoy the game. The event not only promoted physical fitness but also encouraged camaraderie among participants.

Well done to all 22 teams who were involved over the 2 days and once again, congratulations to our 3 schools who will be off representing Maidenhead United FC in the next rounds. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future to continue fostering a love for sports in our students.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKSHOPS WITH RIVERSIDE PRIMARY SCHOOL

The environment project aimed to engage six children from different backgrounds, cultures, and behaviours in activities that promote environmental awareness and sustainability. This initiative aligns with the Premier League Primary Stars programme, which focuses on inspiring young people through football while fostering essential life skills and community values.

Over the course of the project, we worked with six children, each bringing unique perspectives shaped by their diverse backgrounds. This diversity enriched our discussions and activities, allowing for a broader understanding of environmental issues. We focused on key themes such as recycling, conservation, and the importance of green spaces.

The project included various interactive activities, such as:

Energy - Pupils learn about renewable and non-renewable energy sources, and what we can do to change them.
Nature - Pupils will be exploring what nature is, and what we can do to protect and support our natural environment.
Transport - Pupils will learn about the issue of air pollution and how football clubs and their fans can help reduce it.
Food - Pupils will learn about different approaches to diet and making choices about what to eat for both physical health and the environment.

The Premier League Primary Stars programme emphasizes the importance of teamwork, respect, and resilience—values that were integral to our project. By working together, the children not only learned about environmental issues but also developed essential social skills. The programme’s focus on engaging young people through sports provided a framework for us to connect these values to our environmental work.

This environmental project was a success, fostering a sense of community among the children and enhancing their understanding of environmental stewardship. By linking our activities to the Premier League Primary Stars programme, we were able to reinforce the importance of teamwork and respect for our surroundings.

We look forward to continuing this journey and exploring more ways to engage young people in environmental initiatives.
