Maidenhead United Women maintained their collective strong finish to the 2023/24 season with wins for both the First Team and Development Team on Sunday afternoon.

In their final FAWNL home fixture of the season, United completed a notable double over a Keynsham Town side who have had an impressive campaign, becoming the only side out of the top two to take a point against title-chasing AFC Bournemouth in front of a partisan 6,000+ crowd at the Vitality Stadium last month.

The Magpies were two goals to the good by the break, with Megan Halfacree and top-scorer Izzy Stockton making the most of identical assists by the impressive Trinity Esprit. The second period saw Keynsham reduce the arrears against the run of play but United deservedly held out to record their fifth home win of a season which has seen a club record FAWNL points and goals tally set.

On the road, the Magpies Development side recorded a third win in succession and a league double over a London Seaward side who they had also eliminated from the FAWNL Reserve League Cup this season.

Second half goals from Molly McKeever and RJ Jauad-Taborda secured a two-nil win which was enough to deservedly lift the team off the bottom of the final FAWNL Reserve League South & East division table at the end of a challenging inaugural season which saw our improving side without a point from their first ten league matches.

The First Team still have an away match at relegation-threatened Southampton Women’s FC on 5th May and a Combined Counties League Cup quarter final tie at Queens Park Rangers on a date to be fixed.
