John Askey is the current manager of Hartlepool United and was appointed in February 2023, Askey has previously managed Macclesfield Town, Shrewsbury Town, Port Vale, and York City and is now in his first full campaign with the Pools.
Players to watch
Hartlepool have been very active over this summer transfer window and all focus going forward will be on new signing Emmanuel Dieseruvwe who joined on a free transfer from FC Halifax Town. The forward scored thirteen times last season for the Shaymen and has already endeared himself to the Hartlepool fans after scoring a brace during their 2-1 victory over Gateshead last weekend.
They’ve also added players across the football league with the aspiration of returning there following last season’s relegation from League Two. Joel Dixon has come in from Bolton Wanderers to play in goal along with defender Kieran Wallace from Mansfield Town and midfielder Anthony Mancini from Accrington Stanley.
Last time out
It was a day to remember the last time Maidenhead made the long journey to The Suit Direct Stadium as the Magpies won 4-2 back in May 2021 despite only having ten men. Danilo Orsi gave Maidenhead the lead inside the opening fifteen minutes before Rhys Oates equalised for the Pools.
Despite Rhyeem Sheckleford being sent off for Maidenhead, Sam Barratt would score a hat-trick to ensure the Magpies would leave with all three points. Danny Elliott scored a late consolation for Hartlepool but it was too late.
How to get there
The Suit Direct Stadium is located ten minutes away from Hartlepool train station with direct trains available from London Kings Cross.
For those driving to Hartlepool, there is limited car parking available at the ground which needs to be booked in advance by calling 01429 272 584 and costs £5. Other car parking is available at TS24 8AP which charges £3 on matchdays. There is also limited street parking away from the ground however, most roads are only available for permit holders only on matchdays.
