UNITED AS ONE

It was an afternoon to forget for Maidenhead in North West London, as they fell to a 3-2 defeat against Barnet.

The hosts took the lead with the first chance of the game within the opening five minutes, as Idris Kanu curled an effort past Craig Ross into the top right corner.

The Magpies were level not long after, as Reece Smith dribbled into the box before cutting back to Mitchell-Lawson who fired home from close range.

Maidenhead almost took the lead shortly after the restart, but Bradley Keetch’s long-range effort was saved well by Laurie Walker.

Craig Ross was called into action minutes later, as Kabamba attempted to head home from a free kick, but the Magpies shot-stopper reacted quickly to tip it over.

Barnet came close on the half-hour mark, as Courtney Senior picked up the ball outside the box, but his driven effort was just wide of the post.

Mitchell-Lawson tested Walker once again just before halftime, but once again Walker was down well to deny the winger his brace.

The Magpies had a golden chance to take the lead in added time, as Zimba took the ball around Walker, but the defenders got back well to cross the line.

However, moments later, Maidenhead would finally have the lead, as Bradley Keetch fired a low effort past Walker and into the bottom right corner.

Maidenhead had a great chance with 20 minutes remaining, as Mitchell-Lawson’s deflected effort bounced off the bar, and Zimba was unable to poke the rebound into the back of the net.

With 10 minutes left of the game, Gorman tried his luck from distance, but Craig Ross was able to tip his effort over the bar for a corner.
