Report: Bromley 4-1 Maidenhead United
Posted on 9th September 2023
It was an afternoon to forget in the South London sunshine for Maidenhead, as they were beaten 4-1 by Bromley at Hayes Lane.
The first chance of the game fell to the Magpies just before the 10-minute mark, as a corner from Adams found Pettit in the box, but his headed effort was cleared off the line by the Bromley defence.
Maidenhead had another chance a few minutes later. After a good piece of skill, Reece Smith picked out Charlee Adams, whose shot from distance was saved well by Smith.
Despite Maidenhead having the better of the chances early on, it would be the hosts who took the lead. Michael Cheek was picked out in the box, and fired his shot low past Craig Ross.
Bromley and Michael Cheek doubled their goal tally shortly after the half an hour mark, as the striker's left footed attempt found the bottom right corner.
Sam Woods poked home at the back stick in added time to make it 3-0 to the hosts just before the half time break.
HALF TIME - Bromley 3 - 0 Maidenhead United
Bromley started the second half just as they ended the first, as in the opening minutes of the half, Louis Dennis cut onto his left foot and placed his shot into the far right corner.
The Magpies were handed a lifeline shortly after, as Harry Parsons was played through on goal, but unselfishly squared the ball to Chanka Zimba who passed into an empty net for his first Maidenhead goal.
Bromley came close to adding a fifth late on, but Craig Ross got down well to stop the shot from creeping in.
